Aria
"Aria, like the melody"
That was her name
And god, was it melodious
When she first spoke the words
"I love you"
A song in every inflection
Every laugh,
And every smile
And although I knew she loved me
I also knew it'd never work
She fought battles too dangerous
For me to be a part of
She struggled so deeply
I started to drown with her
And I had just made it to shore
Maybe I was being too brash
When I deleted those photos and poem
Because as of last October,
The only thing I have to look back on
Is the photo from her obituary
I never meant for her life to
End with our relationship
And god, did I mean it...
Every laugh, every smile
And every "I love you"
The guilt will haunt me
For the rest of my life
And her name will forever play
In my head, like a melody
Like a ballad
